Before getting into the shower, brush out your extensions using a WetBrush to help prevent deep tangles and matting. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to prolong your hair color and the extension color. Gently shampoo between the rows, without vigorous scrubbing. We recommend Kevin Murphy or Oribe shampoos and conditioners, as their skin care grade ingredients will help prolong the extensions.

After your shower, use a leave-in detangler, such as Untangled Kevin Murphy or Run-through Oribe, to help maintain a longer life for your hair. When brushing the extensions while wet, start from the ends and work your way up to the scalp. If you have multiple rows, section between each row and brush at the root. Not doing so could lead to matting that could be damaging to your hair and the extension hair. Additional products to consider are Restore by Kevin Murphy, Super Shine Moisture Cream by Oribe, and Gold Lust Intense Treatment by Oribe.

We recommend a variety of products in order to keep your extensions healthy and long lasting:

→ Untangled leave in conditioner by Kevin Murphy. This helps detangle and protect from heat.
→ Nourishing hair oil by Oribe. This helps with dryness and tangles.
→ Superhine moisture cream by Oribe. Great styling cream that helps with a nice, smooth, shiny blowout.
→ Mystify by Oribe. Spray on dry hair to refresh products & protect from heat before restyling on days 2 & 3.

Rough dry your hair 80% of the way (meaning no tugging at the extensions with a round brush or comb, just use your hands/ fingers). This applies to Dry Bars as well. It is important to let whoever styles your hair know NOT to round brush your hair from the start to finish of your blowdry.

Make sure to always get your weft 100% dry. Moisture breaks down the weft causing you to replace them sooner than 6-8 months. For example, if you like to air-dry your hair, try to only wash 1-2 times per week. If you work out, make sure to use a blowdryer to completely dry any sweat from your weft.
You can use a round brush and a small amount of tension to smooth your hair and the extension hair the last few minutes of your blowdry.

If curling your extensions, run the extension hair through the curling iron to smooth the hair once or twice before placing curls. This will give your extensions a more polished look, close to the cuticle, and prolong the extension hair.

Brush the extension hair out and place in a loose ponytail or braid. You want your hair to be mostly dry (80-100%) to avoid matting.

To avoid excess tangling, don’t overuse products. Especially ”repair” products like restore by Kevin Murphy or Olaplex with a lot of keratin. This will actually damage the hair. You only need to use the above products listed to keep the extension hair well balanced.

We recommend coming in for extension maintenance every 6-9 weeks.

Depending on the color desired, we recommend coming in every 6-9 weeks for color touch ups. 

Hand-tied extensions can last from 6-8 months or up to 10 with proper care. Extensions should be moved up every 6-10 weeks, and being gentle with them and following our care guide will help them last longer.

The hand tied extension removal process is quick (about 5 minutes) and painless.
